Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

Friday evening we loaded up and went to the Pianaltos for dinner. Colby got this really cool new swing set that the kiddos loved!

She loved the slide.

Then they decided that they needed to get into the pool. Brooklyn had her bathing suit on when we first got there, but wanted nothing to do with the pool. As soon as I changed her into her regular clothes she wanted to get in and I let her. Thankfully she didn't really get wet.

Then....they wanted to play in the water trough for the cows.

They also had ice cream cones while they were doing this.

Playing Mommy

Wilson Park

Last Sunday we went to Wilson Park to celebrate Jackson's 2nd Birthday.



Brooklyn was soooo ready to play outside. She loved swinging on the swings.

It's that time of year again! My little fish loves her swimmimg pool.

Busy Little Girl

My mom picks Brooklyn up from school a couple of days a week. This was how I found her last Wednesday when I came home. She was sitting in the kitchen floor with her tutu on while working on her laptop.

Then she took her babies for a walk.

Then she decided that she needed her heels on. A girl has got to have her heels!

It took her a while, but she finally got them on.

And she is off for another walk....this time a little bit slower.

And the next morning while eating her breakfast she insisted that her tutu sat next to her while she ate.

Mother's Day

My sister and I took our parents to Brunch. Jason was out of town at his annual John Daly Golf Tournament. He planned this several months ago not realizing that is was Mother's Day weekend, so we just celebrated early. Except for the fact that our water heater was leaking and I had to call a plumber on a Sunday to get it replaced, I had a nice Mother's Day.

I am totally going to brag about the Mother's Day gifts that Brooklyn made for me. There is nothing better than something made by your child. My mom helped her with this one. The flowers are actually her hand prints.

What is Brooklyn up to now that she is 2?

* Talking, Talking, Talking! She is talking all of the time now. We can't understand all of her words yet, but we can make out most of them, she is starting to put together sentences and
repeating things that mommy and daddy say (scary). She can also say her name "Bookin" is
how it sounds. What is really cute is when we pick her up from school she tells all of her friends
(calls them by name) bye-bye and blows them kisses. Too cute!

*Potty Trained....Not so much. A few months ago she was really into it. Just about
every time I sat her on the potty, she would go. Then she went through a phase that she didn't
want anything to do with it. Now she is somewhat interested in it, but it is more of a game to
her. She has a seat that fits on the regular toilet and she thinks that it is fun get on an off and
she has to have a magazine to look at, not one of her books. Also, she calls it "peet" I have no
idea where she came up with this word but she will tell me "I peet mommy" so I sit her on the
toilet and she doesn't "peet". Brooklyn is a very hard headed child and I am not going to force
this on her, when she is ready we will work on it.

*Learning Fast! She has learned most of her colors and of course pink is her favorite. She can count to 2 and can go to 4 with help = ) She is getting where she likes for us to read to her too.

*Big Girl Bed....Not just yet. I am not too worried about this, I just haven't converted her crib to a toddler bed yet. My mom had a toddler bed, now she has a daybed for her and she has slept just fine on that. She also sleeps on a mat at school everyday and does just fine. Maybe in the next few weeks I will do this, but I am not in any hurry.

* Her Favorite Things....Elmo, her Baby Dolls and Playing Outside! Brooklyn is still a huge Elmo but also likes all of the Sesame Street characters. She know them all by name. What is really cute is when she talks like the cookie monster. She also loves playing with her baby dolls. Each one has a specific blanket that they get wrapped up in. It is quite funny to watch her with her babies. And finally this girl LOVES playing outside and LOVES to get dirty. Which I am fine with that, that is part of being a kid!

*Her Favorite Snack....Kit Kat. She inhales these things!

*Her Sizes. Well, she is in 24 months/2T and some 3T. She is in a size 6 shoe (soon to be 7).

Brooklyn is a very strong willed and independent little girl and I love that about her! I know she can take care of her self = ) This age is sooo much fun, everyday she is trying and learning something new. She is my whole world and I am sooo blessed to be her mommy!

Demolition Day!!

Back in February I ordered new countertops for our kitchen because we have the ugliest countertops ever!!!!!!!!!! I decided to go with solid surface because I am not a fan of granite and SS is SUPER durable. I feel like it has taken FOREVER but I think that they will be installed next week, I can't wait. Jason and I decided to remove the existing countertops ourselves. Typically laminate countertops are built in the shop and then when installed they attach them from underneath the counters. That is not the case with ours.....they apparently built them on site, which means that they installed the MDF (medium denstiy fiberboard) and then put about a million staples in and then applied the ugly laminate. So what does this mean for us???

We have to remove the laminate from the wood and then hopefully we can pry the wood off of the counters.

Daddytime

Now that the weather is warmer we have been spending a lot of time outside. Brooklyn LOVES playing outside. Brooklyn and Jason were coloring with sidewalk chalk, except Brooklyn doesn't really color she just tells us what colors we can color with and then when she decides that we are done she takes the color out of our hand and gives us another. She really likes being the authority figure!

She still hasn't gotten the hang of the tricycle yet.
